Amy Owczarczak
Commander - Air Force

Amy Owczarczak is the Commander at Hamburg Township VFW Post 1419. She was elected in May, 2022.

 

Amy served in the United States Navy from 2003 to 2007, transferring to the Air Force Reserves in 2007, and is stillpresently serving at the 914th Air Refueling Wing in Niagara Falls, New York as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of the Commander Support Staff at the 914thAeromedical Staging Squadron, earning her VFW eligibility serving in Kuwait in 2011. Amy presently provides support to the ASTS Commander, leadership and unit members, while directly supervising six airman. She is responsible for the management of fifteen unitpersonnel programs for over 110 members in her unit.  

 

In recognition of her service, she received the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air and Space Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border, Air and Space Commendation Medal, Air and Space Achievement Medal,Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, among numerous other medals and ribbons.  

 

Amy became a life member of the VFW in 2019, becoming Junior Vice Commander in 2020, Senior Vice Commander in 2021 and Commander in 2022.   She is also a member of Post 1419 Honor Guard and their treasurer.  Amy also serves VFW District 6 as Senior Vice Commander as of 2022, previously being the Junior Vice Commander.  She serves as the Ways and Means Chair and has served as Patriotic Instructor and Membership Chair for District 6. Amy is also on the VFW State’s Womens Veterans Committee.   

 

Amy serves on several civilian committees, which includesChair of the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) Region 6 Veteran’s Committee, Chair of the CSEA State Standing Veteran’s Committee, Co-Chair of the CSEA Local 815 Women’s Committee.    CSEA Erie Unit’s Fifth Vice President, CSEA Social Services Section First Vice President, Delegate for CSEA Western Region, Grievance Representative for the CSEA Social Services Section.  Volunteer experience includes, but not limited to the Buffalo Stand Down; Batavia Veteran’s Home; Wreaths Across America, Buffalo and Erie County Naval Park Events, Food Bank Volunteer, Variety Club Telethon phone operator, Wings Flight of Hope.

 

Amy received an Associate’s degree in business at Villa Maria College and is currently employed by Erie County Department of Social Services for over 28 years.  

 

Amy currently resides in Lackawanna, New York.
